It’s the Thanksgiving weekend; but, I’ve still managed to find some goodies out there in thrift land.
I scored this cute apothecary jar…

Since I’m mourning the end of Summer, I filled it with a shell collection, and have it sitting here next to the computer to remind me of the sunnier, warmer days to come again
I also found an everyday shirt…

I know, nothing to write home about, but who can’t use another stay-at-home mom uniform piece?
I found this sterling necklace of a sail boat etched in bone…

It’s unique, and such a great etching. It came with small, dangling, matching earrings.
Here’s a close up…

Cute huh?
Lastly, I bought these cuties to add to my snowman collect-a-thon…

They weren’t an actual thrift store find; I got them at Hobby Lobby’s 50% off Christmas Decor Sale.
I need to find some cute holiday decorating ideas.
Time to go search my favorite blogs to see what festive ideas everyone is sharing.
Today I snagged a free moment to start on my Goodwill antique sewing table makeover.
I didn’t have long so I didn’t get really far. Only sanded it down a bit.

Here’s a sanded pic. I know, nothing exciting, but pics are always fun
I really just can’t decide what to do with it. I need some ideas.
I need to see more sewing table makeovers. I’m gonna go search my favorite bloggers for one. I know someone out there has one.
If you have any suggestions please don’t hesitate to share your ideas.
Here’s my hubbies motherĀ
This is a picture of her after my son (3-years-old) was born.
She’s so wonderful and no one could ask for a more perfect MIL. I’m truly blessed to have her in my life.
She’s in town visiting; she got here yesterday.
The kids love when she’s here, and especially like her cooking- SHE’S A FANTASTIC COOK!
Of course, I do gain a little more than I’d like when she’s around, but what can you do? LOL!
Last night my hubster went to a UFC party, so my MIL and I watched The Notebook.
UGH! WE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Notebook. I’m going to get her the dvd and put it in her stocking.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce everyone to my amazing MIL.
Also, since she’s visiting I may not have alot of time to thrift and blog. (although, I do hope to work on a few projects here and there
)
My MIL also likes thrifting; last time we found some great deals together. But, she’s kind of under the weather, so we’ll probably not shop much.
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, and thanks for dropping in

I just learned this picture of mine was featured in our local newspaper!!
How cool is that?!
I’d put the link here, but it says my full name and city. I’m totally paranoid of internet stalkers. LOL!
(nErD AlErT!)
Here’s my way cool desk I’ve been waiting to show thrifty bloggyland.

It’s in perfect condition.
I really want to paint it but I’m worried this info makes it extra special

I’d hate to ruin something of great value, but this maple color and handle won’t work well with the look I’d like our dwelling to have.
I called one antique dealer and she said its only worth a few hundred.
However, on ebay, a single chair by these folks sold for a couple of hundred.
Eek!
I need the Antique Roadshow once again.
If anyone out here in bloggyland has some helpful insight please share.

I was hoping I’d be able to join Beth, a fellow thrifty blogger, in herĀ Stair At My Staircase Party. However, I have the world’s worse stair case ever. The last thing I should be doing is highlighting my feeble attempts to pretty them up. Additionally, I’m far from finished, so I have nothing exciting to share here. LOL!

But, here’s what I’m working with.
We have all builders grade trim.
I’m priming all of the wood
(actually all of our trim in the entire house),
and painting it white.
After, we’ll paint the walls, add wainscoting, and some pretty decor.
Then, when I’m done it will look like this

LOL!
Ok, forget you ever saw my ghetto stairs, that terrifying bad hair pic of me painting (it’s the ONLY one I had) and
go check out Beth’s beautiful stairs here.
Yesterday, I finally dropped off the flowers at the nursing home. It felt so great to finally have completed that project. The cards for the vases turned out great.

I wasn’t thoroughly satisfied with the arrangements b/c I’d envisioned more greenery. However, Costco didn’t have any; so, I had to work with what I could get.
I realy enjoyed this serving opportunity and I hope I can come up with more thrifting serving ideas.
If you have any, feel free to let me know, could use the help.

I found these cast iron cars the other day at the Salvation Army. They are perfect for my sons room. He loves cars and trucks (mostly semi-trucks at the moment). So, I decorated his room with faux, aged/vintage looking street signs from Hobby Lobby. Then, on his shelves we have a couple of wooden old fashion cars also from Hob Lob. Honestly, I really need to get a third shelf and wooden car to complete the look; but, these cute little cast iron cars (about 5 in. long, and very heavy) will add extra charm. They were only $2.99 each. Definitely a great deal!

An amendment to yesterday’s post, I also want to thrift together some kind of craft corner, area, or craft cart idea for the kids. Of course I’m thinking this area will be manifested somewhere in the toy room, we’ll see. Which by the way, I’ve never mentioned before, the toy room was our formal dining room. Until our basement is completed that’s the way it is over here at the Thrifty Beaver Compound. LOL!
And, of course, this could all change if someone comes along and makes a good offer on our house.
Here’s our current “craft area,”
our kitchen floor with our craft tote and basket. LOL!
I love craft time with my boogie noodles
I think I may be the only person here in thrifty bloggy land that hasn’t started decorating for the Christmas season. However late I may be, I have started thrifting up a seasonal collection I hope to incorporate into our home decor this Christmas. What’s the collection of?

I’m not sure what I will do with these little cuties, but I’ve decided to buy every snowman I thriftily come across. Of course, not just any snowman will suffice; but, I’m not sure I can put into words my criteria either. Nor do I know exactly where I’ll put this collection once it’s complete. LOL! Additionally, I must confess, I’m not 100% positive this idea will bear the intended fruit. Remember my all things white idea?

After successfully thrifting 4 pieces, but getting impatient, I went out and bought 3 matching candle holders to try to speed up the finished look. Eew! I eneded up returning those full priced holders, and now my white idea is at a stand still. I just haven’t found anything white recently…… I wonder if I will before I change my mind and turn to all things paisley? LOL!
